After many failed attempts at weight loss while suffering from PCOS ( Polycystic ovary syndrome ) and Endometriosis for years, I was scrolling on Facebook one day and saw an ad come across my feed. I had tried everything from self dieting, doctors, 3 different medications and nothing was working! I was always in pain and suffering. My body had become insulin resistant. I kept cysts on my ovaries and would go 4-5 months without a period then when it would finally come and it was so painful and heavy that I was unable to work and function in my daily life. I had finally reached my breaking point, so with that in mind, I decided to sign up for the "8 week challenge" at About Face Boot Camp. To say I was nervous is an understatement but I knew I was serious and desperately striving for change! It was hard but I continued to show up and work my butt off (literally lol). Many tears were shed throughout the process, but I had wonderful coaches and met people who genuinely cared about me! I grew to be apart of a tribe and the greatest Fit Family I could ever ask for! At the end of two 8 week sessions ( I did one session and liked it so much I just had to do another) which made for a total of 16 weeks and at that time, I had lost 48lbs! My periods became more regular, while my pain and flare ups had greatly lessened!! I knew I was finally on the right track and I was over the moon excited at how far I had come since beginning the program! I remember thinking "THIS WORKS! IT ACTUALLY WORKS!" I knew my journey with About Face was just beginning and I had to keep going. I joined as a member and rolled into the unlimited classes. I kept a healthy mindset and carried over everything that I had learned from the 8 week program on what healthy eating habits look like and which foods are good for you and which ones not so much. I peeled back some inner layers and learned a lot about myself and what I was capable of. I discovered that I genuinely love to workout everyday, yes.. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Who would've thought lol! I love to push myself to the next level to be the best version of myself that I can possibly be! I now have been a part of About Face for a year and have lost a total of 85lbs! I've ran numerous 5k's (one of them I even finished 2nd in my age group) and I am now an avid lover of Spartan races (Going for my Trifecta this year!) I am currently working on toning up and building more strength.. Hey, "strong is the new skinny right !? I couldn't thank the coach's and my tribe at About Face enough. Without them and all of their support, I wouldn't be where I am today. I may have lost a lot in the last year but I have truly gained so much more! I took my health back; I took "me" back!! I am happy inside & out and I now have a new outlook on life.. for that I am forever grateful!
